The app embed
Optivo renders through a Shopify app embed — a block you switch on in the theme editor. For turning it on, see Install and turn it on.
What it touches
Section titled “What it touches”Nothing in your theme’s files. Shopify injects the embed at the end of the page, and the widget then moves itself next to your product form so the fields appear where a customer expects them.
This is why uninstalling Optivo leaves no trace: there is no snippet to remove, because none was ever added. See Uninstalling.
Where it is supported
Section titled “Where it is supported”Product templates only, including custom product templates. On collection, cart, home and page templates the embed does nothing at all — there is nothing to place or position there.
On a product page, fields appear only if an option set is both assigned to that product and published.
The embed belongs to a theme
Section titled “The embed belongs to a theme”App embed settings are stored per theme, not per shop. Two consequences:
- Enabling it on a draft theme does nothing until you publish that theme.
- Publishing a theme that never had it enabled turns it off, because that theme’s settings say off.
If you duplicate your live theme to work on it, remember to turn the embed on in the duplicate before publishing it.
Performance
Section titled “Performance”The widget loads asynchronously and does not block your product page. The parts needed only by certain option types — the date picker, the upload client — are downloaded only on pages that actually use them, so a shop selling plain dropdowns never downloads an upload client.
If the fields appear in an odd place
Section titled “If the fields appear in an odd place”Shopify injects app embeds at the end of the document, and the widget relocates itself next to the add-to-cart form on load. A heavily customised product template can defeat that relocation.
If the fields land somewhere wrong, contact support with your theme name — this is fixable, but it needs looking at against the specific template.
