Translating the widget
Every piece of text a shopper reads in the widget — validation messages and the price preview — comes from your theme’s translation system, not from hard-coded English inside the app. Upload translations will be added when file uploads are released.
That means you can reword or translate any of it without waiting for us to ship a release.
How to change the wording
Section titled “How to change the wording”- Go to Online Store > Themes.
- On the theme you are using, open the … menu and choose Edit default theme content.
- Search for
optivo. - Edit any entry and save.
What you can change
Section titled “What you can change”| Setting | Where the shopper sees it |
|---|---|
| Required-field message | When they try to add to cart with a mandatory field blank |
| “Choose an option” | The empty entry at the top of a dropdown |
| Minimum / maximum selections | On a multiple-choice option with limits set |
| Price preview | The running total under the fields |
Some entries contain placeholders in double braces, such as {{ label }} or {{ count }}. Leave these in place — they are replaced with the option’s name or number when the message is shown. Deleting one turns a helpful message into a vague one.
Translating for multiple languages
Section titled “Translating for multiple languages”If your store sells in several languages through Shopify Markets, the widget follows the shopper’s language automatically: each language’s text comes from that language’s theme content. Translate the optivo entries for each language you sell in.
Anything you have not translated falls back to English rather than showing blank.
What this does not cover
Section titled “What this does not cover”Your own content — option labels, choice names, help text — is entered in the Optivo admin and is not part of theme content. Those are yours to word, and they appear exactly as you typed them.
